Returns Policy
At Eaton’s Guys of Design, we take immense pride in our craftsmanship. Whether it is a custom-made dining table, a restored vintage piece, or a complete interior overhaul, every item is created or selected with the highest attention to detail, quality, and durability.
Please read our policy below regarding returns, refunds, and cancellations.
1. Custom and Bespoke Orders
A significant portion of our business involves items made specifically for you (e.g., custom dining tables, kitchen islands, cabinetry, and made-to-measure upholstery).
1.1 Non-Returnable Policy
In accordance with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), goods that have been altered, specially made, or customized to your specifications are exempt from the standard “cooling-off” period. Therefore, we generally do not accept returns or offer refunds on custom items due to a “change of mind” or if the item does not fit the space due to incorrect measurements provided by the client.
1.2 Approval Process
To ensure you are happy with your order:

We will provide detailed consultations, material samples (wood/fabric), and/or design proofs (3D visualizations) for approval before production begins.

Once you sign off on the design and production commences, the order is binding.
2. Defective or Damaged Goods
We stand by the quality of our work. If you receive an item that is defective, structurally unsound, or damaged upon delivery, you are protected.
2.1 Reporting a Defect
Please inspect your items immediately upon delivery/installation. If you notice any defects or damage:

Notify us in writing at [Insert Email Address] within 7 days of delivery.

Please include photographs of the defect.
2.2 Remedies
If an item is found to be defective due to workmanship or materials (within 6 months of delivery), we will, at our discretion and in consultation with you:

Repair the item to its original standard.

Replace the item (if repair is not possible).
-
Refund the cost of the item (if neither repair nor replacement is possible).
Note: This warranty covers structural integrity and workmanship. It does not cover normal wear and tear, damage caused by negligence, or failure to follow care instructions (e.g., placing hot pots directly on wood surfaces).
3. Vintage and Antique Furniture
Our showroom features vintage furniture that has been restored and reinvented.

“Voetstoots” (As Is): Vintage items are sold with the understanding that they are not brand new. Character marks, natural aging, or minor imperfections that do not affect the structural integrity of the piece are considered part of the item’s charm and are not grounds for a return.

We encourage clients to view vintage items in person at our Hermanus showroom before purchasing.
4. Upholstery and Fabrics

Fabric Batches: Please note that fabric dye lots can vary slightly. We cannot accept returns on upholstered items based on minor color variations from the swatch book once the fabric has been cut and applied.

Cut Lengths: If you purchase fabric by the meter, it cannot be returned once cut from the roll.
5. Cancellations (Before Delivery)
If you wish to cancel an order for a custom piece before it has been delivered:

Before Production Starts: If materials have not yet been purchased, we may refund your deposit less a reasonable administrative fee.

During Production: If production has started or materials have been purchased specially for your project, you may be liable for a cancellation fee to cover the costs of labor and materials incurred up to that point.
6. Art and Sculpture
Artworks and sculptures are unique, one-of-a-kind creations.

Returns on art are handled on a case-by-case basis.

If an artwork arrives damaged, please notify us within 24 hours of receipt.
7. Refunds
If a refund is approved:

Refunds will be processed via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) into the bank account used for the original payment.

Please allow 3–7 business days for the funds to reflect in your account.
